Het is een feit,dat degelijke regelmentering hier gewoon quai onbestaande is.Blijf je bij gerenomeerde merken zal het nog zo,n kwaad niet kunnen maar blijft toch oppassen.Zeker die make-up ed. die in allehande winkeltjes verkocht word en meestal van china komen zouden beter gemeden worden.Wat mij wel meer zorgen baard,is dat dit voor het eten hetzelfde geld.Brood,lechon,kip,ed.Ook hier geen regeling en indien die er al is word die gewoon aan hun laars gelapt.In die 4 jaar heb ik al wel het een en ondervonden hier.Maak daarom zoveel mogelijk zelf,brood,kaas,eigen kippen voor eieren,enz..Je houd het niet voor mogenlijk wat hier allemaal gebeurd,met een ding voor ogen,zoveel mogenlijk geld in zo kort mogelijke tijdverdienen.Voedselveiligheid is dan soms zeer ver te zoeken.Mischien iets voor een apart topic....

Greens want toxic skin whiteners banned

MANILA, Philippines—Alarmed at the number of skin whitening products with a high mercury content, environmental groups on Friday urged authorities to implement a stricter screening for new cosmetics entering the market.

Citing data from the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), the EcoWaste Coalition said some 28 skin lightening products were recalled from January to September 2010 due to their high mercury content.

Two of the recently recalled skin whitening products were found to have 1,000 and 3,000 parts per million (ppm) of mercury, way beyond the FDA’s “allowable threshold” of 1 ppm, the organization said.

“We find it alarming that dozens of skin whitening products have been recalled this year because they contain elevated levels of mercury, a toxic metal,” said Dr. Leah Primitiva Samaco-Paquiz, secretary of EcoWaste Coalition.

Mercury use illegal

The use of mercury in cosmetics is illegal in the United States and Europe.

Studies have shown that overexposure to the chemical can lead to mercury poisoning which causes skin discoloration and other problems. It can also affect sensory functions and vital organs, depending on the amount of exposure to mercury.

To mark Consumer Safety Month this October, EcoWaste Coalition is urging the Department of Health and the Department of Trade and Industry to convene a “Safe Cosmetics Summit” to stop the marketing of personal care products containing toxic chemicals such as mercury.

Government agencies should require manufacturers and distributors to disclose all chemical ingredients in their products, the group stressed, noting that the public has the right to know what they are buying.

Remove toxic chemicals

The FDA should also revise the mercury limit in cosmetics from 1 parts per million to zero.

Moreover, the government should order companies to remove toxic chemicals and substances known as probable human carcinogens, reproductive toxins, and endocrine disruptors from personal care products.

“A summit involving all stakeholders is essential to facilitate a broad consensus on specific policies and measures that should be pursued to promote and guarantee consumer health and safety from harmful chemicals in personal care products,” Samaco-Paquiz said.

Bij m'n laatste bezoek gingen we ook shoppen in de SM. Ik vertrek steeds naar ginds met valies vol oude kleren om aan haar familie te geven, oude voetbalschoenen voor de kids en chocolade. Du scheermesjes en andere verzorgingsproducten koop ik steeds ginder.

Mijn vriendin natuurlijk mee, en ook gretig pottekes uit die rekken halen voor haar. Ik zeg haar altijd "NO GHOSTCREAM!!" Toen we aan de kassa kwamen zat er ghostsoap en cream bij, die ik weigerde te betalen. Man man een scene daar aan die kassa, haha en de rest van de dag geen klank. Die van mij zei dat ze het nodig had voor haar "pimples", en je zal het nooit raden. 2 weken later op onze trouw had ze 2 grote "pimples" op haar gezicht. Hoho ik heb het mogen horen zenne.   
Maar het is gewoon afschuwelijk, ze witten dan hun gezicht en hun nek en schouders zijn dan nog een stuk bruiner.

Maar het zal er inderdaad nooit uitgaan. Ze voelen zich altijd negra, negra pangit  .

10 toxic whitening products resurface in markets

MANILA, Philippines - Ten whitening products banned by the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) for containing mercury have resurfaced in the market, the environmental group Eco­Waste Coalition said yesterday.

In a statement, EcoWaste said the banned products are again being sold in some health and beauty shops and Chinese drug stores.

“We are very upset to find these health-damaging skin lightening creams on store shelves despite the repeated FDA threat of filing criminal charges against violators,” said Aileen Lucero of EcoWaste.

Several months ago, the FDA had banned 28 skin whitening products for exceeding the allowable mercury content limit of one part per million.

EcoWaste said it conducted market surveillance last week.

“Our latest test buys only underscore the need for firm and strict law enforcement in order to protect Filipino consumers from mercury exposure in personal care products,” Lucero said.

These banned whitening products are: Beauty Girl Ginseng and Green Cucumber, Beauty Girl Olive and Sheep Essence, Dr. Bai, Jiao Li 7-Days Eliminating Freckle AB Set, Jiao Li 10-Days Eliminating Freckle Day and Night Set, Jiaoli Huichusu, Jiaoli Huichusu Whitening Speckles Removal Cream, Jiaoli Miraculous Cream, JJJ Magic Spot Removing Cream, and S’Zitang.

The group appealed to the FDA to go after those responsible for the reappearance of the banned products in the market to discourage others from violating the ban.
