Japanese shot dead, wife stabbed

TAYUG, Pangasinan -- A Japanese national was shot dead while his Filipina wife survived stab wound from their attacker Tuesday afternoon along the national highway here.

P03 Allan Bibat of the Tayug Police Station identified the victims as Cart Zusuke and wife Lily Zusuke, currently residing at Bgy. Panganiban here.

He further said the Japanese Embassy had already called up at the police station inquiring about Zusuke passport and other pertinent documents to establish if he is really a Japanese.

Bibat said the incident transpired at around 3 p.m. in Bgy. Barangobong.

The motorcycle-riding suspects approached Zusuke’s parked car and shot the Japanese first, after which Mrs. Zusuke was stabbed several times.

Bibat said a concerned motorist who heard the gunshot proceeded to the police station and reported the incident.

The responding policemen saw the car bathing in Zusuke’s own blood from the gunshot wound in his head. He died on the spot.

In between her breaths, Mrs. Zusuke was able to identify the assailant.

Investigators are looking at a land dispute as a motive behind the attack.

Allegedly, the owner of a farmland pawned to Mrs. Zusuke was asking her to let him till the land.

But he was allegedly told that he could only do so after paying his loan.
