Pinoy public domain classics now available at Flipreads

An initial batch of Filipino public domain titles, including the 1987 Constitution and the works of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal and prominent poet Francisco Balagtas, are now available as eBook format at Philippine electronic bookstore Flipreads
( www.flipreads.com ).

Flipreads, a distribution platform for Filipino and Asian publishers and other content providers, said more works are to undergo conversion to eBook format in the coming weeks.

"Though a lot of Filipino works are already in the public domain and available online,  we want to make them handier, more accessible, and more attractive to contemporary Filipinos," said Honeylein de Peralta, managing editor at Flipside Digital Content Inc.

In a news release, Flipside said it now offers the following titles:


   The Reign of Greed
   El Filibusterismo
   Noli Me Tangere
   Florante at Laura
   Ibong Adarna
   Philippine Folk Tales
   the 1987 Philippine Constitution


Future eBooks to be converted include the other works of Rizal, it said.

Flipreads said these public domain eBooks have been repackaged and feature a new cover by graphic artists Adam David and Lester Banzuelo.

It said "Philippine Folk Tales" and "Ibong Adarna" now include original artwork from popular comic artists Manix Abrera and Mike David respectively.

To date, Flipreads features more than 100 eBooks including titles from UP Press, UST Publishing House, and some independently published eBooks.

Its parent company, Flipside Digital Content, is involved in the leading-edge conversion, production, and publishing of eBooks, and makes them available for the Amazon Kindle, Apple iTunes, and B&N Nook. – TJD, GMA News
