Das het probleem met de airport in manila die 1 lange en 1 korte baan heeft. Als die baan baan geblokkeerd is kunnen ze geen grote toestellen meer ontvangen of laten vertrekken.

Saudia plane overshoots NAIA runway

MANILA (UPDATED) - A Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) passenger aircraft got stuck at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on Tuesday night after it overshot the runway, an aviation official said.

The Saudia Flight 871 bound for Riyadh was about to take off when the incident happened, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Deputy Director Rodante Joya said.

This resulted in the plane's front wheel getting stuck in the mud.

Fire and rescue teams had to lift it out and tow it away, said airport spokeswoman Jen Franco.

Joya said the bad weather may have caused the pilot to miscalculate the take-off.

None of the 298 passengers on the Boeing 747-400 plane were hurt.

However, it caused a delay in at least 11 flights at NAIA, airport officials said - reports from Henry Atuelan, dzMM; Agence France-Presse

Als ze echt nog op volle snelheid waren, zouden veel verder gecrasht hebben.
Boeing 747-400: om 360 ton de lucht in te krijgen heb je bijna 300 km/u nodig.

Vliegtuig start zijn aanloop.
Ze bereiken V1[nb]Maximale snelheid waarbij een vliegtuig tijdens de start nog veilig kan stoppen op de overgebleven baanlengte.

Het vliegtuig heeft gewoon zijn bocht te groot genomen van de taxi zone om op het verlengde van de startbaan te komen en is daarbij van de taxizone geskid in het gras.Dus niet zoals sommigen hier vermoeden tijdens het opstijgen en daarbij de startbaan overschoten.Nu zal het slechte weer er ook wel iets mee te maken gehad hebben,rij maar eens bij hevige regenval op een autoweg,dan ziet men nauwelijks of niet de strepen op de weg bij sommige autobanen.

Bij een rejected take off moet een vliegtuig ook bij hevige regen nog veilig kunnen stoppen. V1 wordt berekend volgens de lengte van de startbaan. Behalve bij motorfalen wordt de take off boven V1 voortgezet.

V1......V2  rotate............positive rate of climb......Airborne.......Gear up.

Het is op de foto's duidelijk te zien dat niet het neuswiel in de modder steekt.

Grote fout van de piloot.

Dit verslag is duidelijker. "Overshoot" suggereert eerder "running out of runway"

Als ik die foto eens bekijk dan nemen ze het niet zo nauw met de veiligheidsregels op NAIA.
Ze zijn met het wiel bezig maar wat als die verder wegzakt met al die mensen onder het vliegtuig? 

Het is duidelijk te zien dat het rechterwiel van de baan is belandt, dat heeft dus met sturing te maken, bochtje iets te groot genomen? Baan verlichting niet goed?
