THE Bureau of Immigration and Deportation (BID) has collared 16 illegal aliens and overstaying foreigners in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.

Lawyer Faisal Husin, Special Assistant to the Commissioner and Head of the Alien Mapping Task Force of the BID, said they will conduct operation in the province until Saturday.

The group arrived Monday.

He said undocumented or illegal aliens will be deported.

This is the first area of their operation in the entire country, he said.
The operation is conducted by the BID after it received information that several foreigners are staying in the country without pertinent papers, especially those who are studying in the country.

Of the 16 arrested illegal aliens, 10 were Indian nationals, three Koreans, and three Chinese.

Husin said members of the task force have been monitoring the Indian nationals who are into the lending business, and they have noticed that these foreigners have not done their usual collection routine the past three days.

The BID received information that most of these Indian nationals who are into the lending business lack the documents for their business but stay in the country.

"They may have monitored our presence," Husin said.

"If they have the documents as proof of their stay here, they should not fear," he added.

After their operation this week, Faisal said they are coming back here for more operations.

Foreigners who are studying here should secure special permits.
