SEAir to Fly Kalibo - Singapore in July

1:31 AM   Airline News

Southeast Asian Airlines (SEAir), the affiliate of Tiger Airways has announced that it will be launching new non-stop service between Singapore and the popular Philippine beach resort destination of Boracay via Kalibo International Airport.

The new service which is scheduled to begin on July 18, 2013 will be operated aboard SEAir's Airbus A320 aircraft three times per week. Flights will depart every Thursday, Saturday, and Monday. Singapore's Changi Airport is already serviced by SEAir with a daily flight from its international base at Clark International Airport.

Southeast Asian Airlines previously reported during the launch of its service to Laoag in April 2013 that the airline was looking at launching new international service to Phuket, Thailand and new domestic service to Legazpi. While no formal announcements were made, competing airline Cebu Pacific just announced that it would launch the first ever direct service from Manila to Phuket using its Airbus A320 fleet on August 16, 2013. It is unknown whether SEAir intends to continue pursuing Phuket as a future destination. Meanwhile, Legazpi Airport in Bicol would welcome a new airline to fill the void for Zest Air who ended its daily service between Legazpi and Manila this month.

Southeast Asian Airlines reported a loss of $7.3 million for the quarter ending March 31, 2013. It will take time for the airline to turn a profit in the highly competitive Philippine skies as it tries to build a stronger presence in the region. It is currently focused on increasing its payment and distribution channels while trying to concentrate on network expansion. Its parent, Tiger Airways, will continue to make strategic investments through to 2014 while the airline attempts to turn a profit.
