Air France krijgt boete voor 'giftige' koffie


Luchtvaartmaatschappij Air France moet een boete van 146.000 euro betalen aan een passagier die ziek zou zijn geworden na het drinken van een kop koffie tijdens een vlucht in 2006. Dat heeft een Franse rechtbank vandaag bepaald.

Vliegen riskanter door crisis

AMSTERDAM -  De risico's voor vliegpassagiers nemen toe omdat de luchtvaart door de crisis wordt gedwongen nog meer op de kleintjes te letten.

„Dat kan leiden tot een toename van onveilige situaties", zegt de Vereniging van Nederlandse Verkeersvliegers (VNV).

General strike on Monday 30 January - Nationale staking op maandag 30 januari - Grève nationale le lundi 30 janvier

De grootste Belgische vakbonden roepen op tot een algemene 24-urenstaking als protest tegen de sociale hervormingen. Het werk wordt neergelegd op maandag 30 januari.

Alle lijnpiloten opgeroepen mee te staken op 30 januari

De Belgian Cockpit Association (BeCA), de Belgische pilotenorganisatie, roept alle lijnpiloten op om deel te nemen aan de algemene staking op 30 januari. De organisatie heeft het over "het incoherente regeringsbeleid" rond de pensioenplannen en "een totaal onverantwoord hervormingsproject".

Helft piloten slaapt achter het stuur

Vijftig procent van de vliegtuigpiloten valt wel eens in slaap tijdens het vliegen. Dertig procent merkt ook op dat hun copiloot wel eens een dutje doet achter het stuur. Dit meldt Nico Voorbach, voorzitter van de European Cockpit Association, via Het Laatste Nieuws.

SEAIR Allowed to Fly Cebu, Davao

Singapore - Tiger Airways local subsidiary SOUTH EAST Asian Airlines, Inc. (Seair) announces flights to Cebu and Davao from Manila by summer after the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) upheld the airline's right to fly in the Philippines.

Seair was supposed to fly major domestic routes back in July 2011, but other local carriers, Philippine Airlines, Cebu Air, Inc. (Cebu Pacific), and Air Philippines Corp. (Airphil Express), complained of cabotage violations alleging Tiger as a foreign entity. Philippine Law grants the right of transporting goods and passengers between two or more points within the Philippines only to local airlines.

The airline was able to convinced CAB that its merely leasing Aircraft from Tiger Airways, and that of their reservation system for marketing purposes. It was able to proved that it is still an independent airline in the Philippines. CAB Resolution No. 1 issued on May 18, 2011, ordered Seair to stop the sale of seats for its Manila-Davao and Manila-Cebu routes planned for July 2011. The CAB lifted the cease and desist order in October last year.

The problem now is the aircraft to be used for major domestic services as the carrier awaits delivery of its 3rd and 4th  airbus aircraft for domestic and international operations. Two of its Airbuses are operating internationally.
Seair flies to Macau, Hongkong, Bangkok, and Singapore from the carrier's hub in Clark International Airport.
" We're looking to fly these route by April or May," says Avelino L. Zapanta, SEAIR President and Chief Executive Officer.

"We're just waiting for developments from the sources of the two aircraft that will be acquired for the Cebu and Davao operations," Mr. Zapanta said.

The two new aircraft will also be used to fly Kuching, Penang, Langkawi, and Kota Kinabalu all in Malaysia, and some points in China, Mr. Zapanta said. The airline also plans to fly South Korea and Japan in the future.

SEAIR launches online payment system

South East Asian Airlines (SEAIR) has launched CashPay, its payment facility for online booking transactions for international flights. SEAIR now flies from Clark to Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok.

CashPay allows Philippine-based customers to make a reservation online and complete the booking via cash payment at any of the eight SEAIR ticketing offices in Manila, Clark, Cebu and Davao. Passengers must make the payment within 24 hours of booking. Flights cannot be booked within 48 hours of departure.

SEAIR also announced that it is offering special fares for as low as PHP 1,099 for Clark to Hong Kong and PHP 2,400 for Clark to Singapore and Bangkok until February 1, 2012. The promos are valid for travel from February 1 to June 30, 2012 for Hong Kong, and February 1 to December 31, 2012 for Singapore and Bangkok.

The partnership with Tiger Airways allows SEAIR to distribute seats through Tiger Airways' established internet booking system, www.tigerairways.com. SEAIR is the first Tiger Airways Partner Airline in the Asia Pacific region.

SEAIR is the nation's second-oldest airline and has flown almost 3 million passengers to local destinations including Boracay via Caticlan, Batanes, El Nido, Tablas in Romblon, Vigan and Clark. SEAIR flies from Manila and Clark to Caticlan. It has the longest history of uninterrupted service to Boracay direct via Caticlan with SEAIR having the fastest flights.
