NAIA 1 is again world's worst airport

MANILA -- The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 was once again voted worst airport in the world by the travel website Sleeping In Airports, two years after it first gained this notorious distinction.

Sleeping In Airports on Tuesday released the results of its Best and Worst Airports for 2013. Last year, the website named NAIA 1 as worst airport in Asia.

The results are based entirely on user votes in our site polls and surveys between the period September 2012 to August 2013, it said.

Unlike in previous years, the website merely gave a list of the best and worst airports without giving a reason.

Last year, for instance, it noted that "travellers continue to complain about the long and numerous queues that begin outside the terminal. Once inside, there will be no time for naps and certainly no place for quiet rest and enjoyment as you'll be busy going through various queues for the next few hours as you proceed to your gate."

But some of the recent comments about NAIA 1 from the site's users included charges of discrimination and theft.

"After processing and confirming our boarding passes for the connecting flights , we were immediately directed to the adjacent detention area with collapsing ceiling , smelly sofas and poor ventilation. I termed it detention area as everyone's passports and boarding passes were confiscated while movements were restricted and monitored with NAIA airport staff guarding the only entrance," wrote c.young1010 last August 31. "We were convinced that the NAIA airport staff selectively detained Mainland Chinese and Taiwanese as Westerners from USA/Canada/Europe/Australia though with Chinese and Taiwanese spouses were immediately release and ask to leave the premises."

Meanwhile, user Atiya on June 7, complained about "stealing and dishonest airport staffs (sic) who would lie in your face."

The website, however, acknowledged that NAIA Terminal 3 receives "much better reviews and feedback" than NAIA 1.

Singapore's Changi airport has once again been voted as the SleepingInAirports Best Airport for the 17th year in a row.

Air Miles niet meer onbeperkt geldig

Air Miles, die sinds het begin van de jaren 90 in Nederland verzameld kunnen worden bij onder meer worden Albert Heijn, V&D en Shell, krijgen een geldigheidsduur.

Dat heeft het bedrijf achter het elektronische spaarsysteem maandag bekendgemaakt.
De afgelopen jaren hebben spaarders al miljarden Air Miles ingewisseld voor korting op producten, reizen en dagattracties. Toch maakt nog niet iedereen gebruik van die mogelijkheid.

„Om juist die spaarders actief aan te sporen om ze in te wisselen, doen we nu twee dingen: we bieden meer inwisselaanbod én Air Miles krijgen een geldigheidstermijn", stelt het bedrijf op zijn website.
Air Miles die voor 21 oktober zijn gespaard, zijn nog 5 jaar inwisselbaar tot 1 november 2018. Air Miles die iemand spaart vanaf 21 oktober, zijn 3 jaar geldig.

Tja als je veel reist zal het geen probleem zijn, maar jan met de pet, moet doorgaans lang sparen wil hij er baat bij hebben.
Dus Airmiles kun je in de regel dan wel vergeten en eindigt in een farce want je kunt jarenlang sparen voor je vliegreis maar tegen de tijd dat je net niet de eindstreep hebt gehaald zijn ze dus verlopen en kun je opnieuw beginnen.

Vliegtuigstoel op verre vlucht steeds krapper

Luchtreizigers in de goedkoopste klasse moeten op verre vluchten steeds krapper zitten. Veel vliegmaatschappijen proppen een extra stoel in elke rij. Zo kunnen 'achterin' meer passagiers mee, terwijl de zakenklasse juist ruimer en comfortabeler wordt voor dezelfde prijs.

Dat blijkt volgens de Airline Passenger Experience Association uit Amerikaans onderzoek. „Het lijkt erop dat mensen in de economyclass moeten bloeden voor degenen in de businessclass", luidt de kritiek.
„Op vluchten langer dan tien uur is een zitplaats van 43 cm in een rij van tien of zelfs elf stoelen met twee gangpaden niet gezond, nog afgezien van de beperkte beenruimte. Zo'n opgepropte cabine kan nooit goed zijn voor de veiligheid aan boord", klagen consumentenorganisaties.
De Consumentenbond waarschuwt voor „veevervoertoestanden".
