Cebu Pac eyes Italy as 1st Europe destination

MANILA - Budget airline Cebu Air Inc. (Cebu Pacific) is gearing up for its first ever flight to Europe as it is now seeking permission from the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) to fly to Italy.

In a petition filed with the CAB, Cebu Pacific is seeking the re-allocation of additional entitlements to Italy from the unutilized seat entitlements previously allocated to national flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL).

The petition was filed in accordance to the Sept. 5, 2013 Confidential Memorandum of Understanding (CMOU) between the governments of the Philippines and Italy.

In April last year, EU Chargè d' Affaires Dr. Julian Vassallo announced that the body lifted the ban imposed on Cebu Pacific a day after the US Federal Aviation Administration (US-FAA) upgraded the aviation safety rating of the Philippines back to Category 1.

The European Commission has decided to remove Cebu Pacific from the EU Safety List effectively allowing it to fly to the EU.

The 27-member European Commission imposed a ban in March 2010 preventing Philippine carriers from entering the European airspace after the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) failed to reform the country's civil aviation system as mandated by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

However, the Philippines got a positive impression from the EU's Air Safety Committee (ASC) in Belgium in June 2013 especially after ICAO lifted the remaining significant security concerns when Philippines through the CAAP passed the audit conducted in February.

Cebu Pacific president Lance Gokongwei earlier disclosed plans to acquire bigger aircraft to expand its long haul operations particularly to the US and Europe.

The budget airline is in the middle of a $4 billion re-fleeting program involving the acquisition of 50 brand new Airbus aircaft. It is scheduled to take delivery of one Airbus A330, nine A320, and 30 Airbus A321neo between this year and 2021.

Cebu Pacific has a fleet of 52 aircraft composed of 10 Airbus A319, 29 A320, five A330 and eight ATR-72 500 aircraft.

The airline is on track to flying its 100 millionth passenger after 18 years of operations. It launched its first domestic flights to Cebu and Davao in March 8, 1996 after the Philippine government deregulated air travel, and opened up opportunities for other airlines.

Qatar Airways set for Amsterdam

Qatar Airways will add Amsterdam to its network from June 16 this year, making the Dutch capital the airline's 34th destination in Europe. The daily service will be operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Chief executive of the Qatari flag carrier Akbar Al Baker said: "Amsterdam has long been on our list of destinations to introduce to our network, and we are delighted to now be adding this dynamic European city to our route map."

The aircraft offers 254 seats in a two-class configuration, with 22 fully-flat-bed seats in Business Class (for a review of the product, click here) and 232 in Economy Class. The non-stop Doha-Amsterdam journey will take six hours and 35 minutes.

On Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the flight will depart from Doha at 0825, to arrive in Amsterdam at 1400. The return flight will leave The Netherlands at 1510 for touchdown at Hamad International Airport at 2315.

On Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, the Amsterdam-bound flight will take off and arrive five minutes earlier, while the return flight will be 10 minutes later.

Dan hoop ik maar dat ze eens wat anders verzinnen dan die  - spelletjes onderweg

Het valt misschien niet echt op maar de ticketprijzen zijn wel degelijk aan het dalen, elke dag een paar Euro en dit met een steeds meer verzwakkende Euro.

Brussel-Bangkok voor 459 Euro met Qatar air. (665 met Thai nonstop)
Brussel-Hong Kong voor 455 Euro met Qatar air.
Brussel-New York voor 395 Euro met Brussels airlines
Brussel-Manila voor 558 Euro met Qatar air tot 10 december

En zo zijn er nog wel enkele mooie prijzen te vinden, in dit geval zijn het prijzen van Connections.be en er zijn via internet nog wel betere koopjes te doen.

Dan hoop ik maar dat ze eens wat anders verzinnen dan die   - spelletjes onderweg  

Laten ze eerst maar eens wat doen aan de vertragingen, op lange vluchten zullen ze best wel betere service dienen te geven anders is het snel afgelopen voor ze.

Gisteren wisten ze het op een vlucht van 1 uur te presteren om er 2 uur over te doen. 30 minuten wachten met opstijgen en 1 1/2 uur in de lucht hangen. Die spelletjes zijn overigens niet enkel voor ons storend want ze vroegen gisteren al wie er mee zou doen (of er dus voldoende animo voor was)

Maar wat ik me nog meer afvraag is hoe het mogelijk is dat ze de Filippijnse luchtvaartmaatschappijen een verbod opleggen en Malaisia air wel toestaan in

Omdat Malaysia airlines een veilige maatschappij is die in orde zal zijn met de voorschriften etc.

Maar wat ik me nog meer afvraag is hoe het mogelijk is dat ze de Filippijnse luchtvaartmaatschappijen een verbod opleggen en Malaisia air wel toestaan in    

Omdat Malaysia airlines een veilige maatschappij is die in orde zal zijn met de voorschriften etc.

Ik neem aan dat je zelf ook wel moet lachen om je opmerking 

Het 1e vliegtuig dat verdwenen is was zover bekend juist omdat de veiligheidsvoorschriften niet opgevolgd werden.

Bij de 2e vlogen ze 1km te laag om als personen vliegtuig te worden aangemerkt

Bij de 3e is het dan wellicht door het slechte weer maar dat is nog even afwachten.

Ja leuk gevonden hoor en hoeveel recentelijk in hetzelfde tijdsbestek als malaisia Airline en ook in het tijdsbestek van het  verbod?

Als ik jullie goed begrijp is het dus minder belangrijk of er van een maatschappij(land) 3 vliegtuigen neerstorten of verdwijnen maar is het meer belangrijk of men zich aan de regels houdt?
