Extra betalen voor stoelkeuze KLM

Passagiers in de toeristenklasse van KLM en Air France moeten extra gaan betalen, als ze langer dan 30 uur voor vertrek een zitplaats willen selecteren. Nu is dat nog gratis, maar voor verre vluchten met ingang van 26 januari gaat dat 20 euro per enkele reis kosten.
"We beginnen met onze bestemmingen in Azië, Latijns Amerika en de Cariben. Later in 2016 gaat dit ook gelden voor Europese vluchten", zegt directeur Harm Kreulen van KLM Nederland.
Alleen als passagiers vanaf 30 uur voor vertrek online gaan inchecken, kunnen ze volgens hem nog gratis een stoel uitkiezen. "Een uitzondering maken we voor veelvliegers met een Flying Blue Elite-status, voor groepen groter dan negen personen en families met jonge kinderen. KLM zorgt er bijvoorbeeld voor dat gezinnen kosteloos bij elkaar kunnen zitten", aldus Kreulen.
'Eerlijker verdelen'
Volgens hem is de situatie nu zo dat zakenreizigers met een flexibel, volbetaald ticket in economyclass en families die laat boeken geen keuze meer hebben, omdat bijna alle stoelen dan al bezet zijn. "We willen de beste plaatsen, bijvoorbeeld bij het gangpad, eerlijker verdelen."
Het gaat hier om standaardstoelen. Voor voorkeursplaatsen met meer been- en zitruimte, zoals bij de nooduitgang, op de voorste rijen of in de comfortzone, geldt volgens Kreulen al langer een reserveringstoeslag, ongeacht het tijdstip van selectie.
Hij kan nog niet zeggen hoeveel extra inkomsten de nieuwe maatregel KLM gaat opleveren. "Het is in eerste instantie bedoeld om later boekende reizigers, groepen en gezinnen beter te bedienen."

More International Airlines Seen To Serve Cebu in 2016

First concrete pouring for new passenger terminal set for early December

Foot traffic at the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) is expected to increase by five to seven percent over the long term, with the additional flights and increased flight frequencies starting next year, an official said.

Two new routes will start in March next year, said MCIA general manager Nigel Paul Villarete.

"There's one direct flight from Cebu to LA (Los Angeles) that will start in March. There are also two airlines that will start operations for direct flights from Cebu to Taipei, also in March," Villarete said.

Talks are ongoing with several other airlines for two other possible routes next year.

So far, Villarete said one direct flight to mainland United States and another for Middle East are in the works.

"These (talks) are things that will happen in the next months and years to come but we are very hopeful. We are almost certain that we will have a direct flight to the Middle East some time next year," Villarete said.

Discussions with the Middle East carriers began in early 2013, while discussions with the US airlines began in 2014. Since then, Villarete said they have been threshing out all issues and constraints the carriers may have in coming to Cebu.

Villarete also said that the management is hopeful that the talks will begin bearing fruit as early as next year and more carriers will start flying directly to Cebu.

The Mactan Airport currently serves more than seven million passengers a year, nearly double the 4.5 million capacity of its existing passenger terminal.

The airport is undergoing a P17.5-billion upgrading project which will increase its capacity to 12.5 million passengers a year. The project is being undertaken through public-private partnership by concessionaire GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corp.

Villarete said land development has started for the new passenger terminal, which is targeted for completion in 2018.

Slated at the end November or at latest, by early December, is the first concrete pouring for the terminal.

"I don't think that there will be any delays to the development. We will have a new terminal by 2018," Villarete said.

Het blijkt om bommeldingen te gaan en om veiligheidsredenen zijn beide vluchten afgeleid. 

Heb gisteren geboekt naar de Filippijnen, en... daarbij  vermeden een route te kiezen via Frankrijk, of gelieerd aan Air France.
(vorig jaar koos ik toevallig voor Philippine Airlines via London, en ... op dezelfde dag werd de vlucht van Malaysian Airlines vanuit Amsterdam neergehaald. Heb toen veel geluk gehad, blijkbaar...)

Denk niet dat het momenteel een goed idee is om via CDG te vliegen  . Langs de andere kant is dat dan wel een zege voor het terrorisme, vluchten omgeleid , concerten afgelast, sportmanifestatie die uitgesteld of afgelast worden....Misschien een verkeerd signaal , maar wie kan je het kwalijk nemen

It can comfortably fly 10,000 Miles (16,000 km) at Mach 0.88 or 654 mph (1,046 km/h) with 1,000 passengers on board!
They have kept this secret long enough.

Boeing is preparing this 1,000 passenger Jet Liner that could reshape the Air Travel Industry.  Its radical 'Blended Wing & Fuselage' design has been developed by Boeing in cooperation with NASA Langley Research Centre.  The mammoth aircraft will have a wing span of 265 feet compared to 211 feet of its 747, and it has been designed to fit within the newly created Air Terminals for the 555 seat Airbus A380, which is 262 feet wide.

The new 797 is Boeing's direct response to the Airbus A380, which has racked up orders for 159 already.   Boeing decided to kill its 747X Stretched Super Jumbo in 2003 after little interest was shown for it by airline companies, but continued to develop its 'Ultimate Airbus Crusher', the 797 at its Phantom Works Research Facility in Long Beach, California.

The Airbus A380 had been in the works since 1999 and has accumulated $13 Billion in development costs, which gives Boeing a huge advantage.  More so because Airbus is thus committed to the older style tubular structure for their aircraft for decades to come.



There are several big advantages in the 'Blended Wing & Fuselage' design, the most important being the lift to drag ratio which is expected to increase by an amazing 50%, resulting in an overall weight reduction of the aircraft by 25%, making it an estimated 33% more fuel efficient than the A380, and thus making the Airbus's $13 Billion Dollar investment look pretty shaky.

'High Airframe Rigidity' is another key factor in the 'Blended Wing & Fuselage' technology.  It reduces turbulence and creates less stress on the airframe which adds to fuel efficiency, giving the 797 a tremendous 10,000 Mile range with 1,000 passengers on board cruising comfortably at Mach 0.88 or 654 MPH, which gives it another advantage over the tube-and-wing designed A380's 570 MPH.




The exact date for introduction of the 797 is as yet unclear, but the battle lines are clearly drawn in the high-stakes war for future civilian aircraft supremacy.

Je loopt wat achter Creek, dit type prototype circuleert reeds op het internet sinds 2006 en heeft sindsdien enkele upgrades ondergaan.
