Vliegtuigetiquette voor dummies





Een korte of lange vlucht is niet altijd een even aangename ervaring.
Je zit urenlang op elkaar gepakt en irritaties kunnen al snel de kop opsteken.
Met deze tips zal jij alvast de andere medepassagiers zo weinig mogelijk tot last zijn.
Hopelijk gedragen alle inzittenden zich even correct als jij want dan is er toch helemaal geen vuiltje aan de lucht!


1. Rugleuning  Kan ik mij in ergeren  Grrr...
Kijk voordat je je rugleuning naar achteren zet of er iets op het klaptafeltje van je achterbuurman of -vrouw staat.


2. Drinken
Doe je omgeving een plezier en drink met mate.


3. Baby
Je baby verschoon je op het toilet, dus niet op één van de stoelen en zeker niet wanneer er maaltijden worden geserveerd.


4. Slapen
Doe je leeslampje uit, schuif het raamluikje naar beneden en maak je gordel zichtbaar vast voor je gaat slapen.


5. Op je plaats
Blijf zoveel mogelijk op je plaats zitten.
Zorg dat je boeken, snacks en alles wat je denkt nodig te hebben bij de hand hebt, zodat je de buren niet hoeft te storen om regelmatig in het bagagecompartiment te graaien.


6. Cabinepersoneel
Roep niet continu iemand van het cabinepersoneel bij je.
Hun taak is het om het iedereen zoveel mogelijk naar de zin te maken en dat is geen geringe opgave met gespannen passagiers aan boord.


7. Hoofdtelefoon
Als de stewardess iets vraagt, zet dan je hoofdtelefoon af, dat is elementaire beleefdheid.


8. GSM
- Bel niet tijdens het boarden
- Praat niet tegen je telefoon en de stewardess tegelijk
- Probeer niet met alle geweld het achtergrondgeluid te overstemmen
- Let op het gespreksonderwerp en je taalgebruik.

Sexy veiligheidsinstructie in vliegtuig

Hoe hou je de aandacht vast van vliegtuigpassagiers bij de veiligheidsinstructie voor het opstijgen?

Cebu Pacific Airlines heeft er iets op gevonden.

Op de tonen van Lady Gaga leggen sexy dansende stewardessen van de Filippijnse luchtvaartmaatschappij de handelingen bij een noodsituatie uit.
"We willen aan de reizigers laten zien dat veiligheidsinstructies niet saai hoeven te zijn. Bovendien kunnen onze stewardessen zo hun talent tonen", verklaart woordvoerder Candice Iyog.
De luchtvaartmaatschappij huurt zelfs professionele choreografen in om de sexy pasjes te bedenken.
De sensuele uitvoering van de veiligheidsinstructies vervangen de 'normale' veiligheidsinstructies voor het opstijgen niet helemaal.
Eerst gebeurt het op de 'normale' manier, en pas wanneer het toestel in de lucht hangt wordt het dansje ingezet voor diegenen die de eerste maal hun aandacht er niet bij hebben kunnen houden.

Man in volle vlucht: "Ik maak mezelf van kant en jullie zullen allemaal sterven"

"Ik maak mezelf van kant en jullie zullen allemaal sterven", schreeuwde een man tijdens een vlucht van Melbourne naar Hongkong van de Australische maatschappij Qantas. De crew slaagde er gelukkig in om de geweldadige passagier te overmeesteren en in bedwang te houden tot het vliegtuig veilig kon landen in Hongkong.
Het drama speelde zich af enkele uren nadat het toestel was opgestegen. Net voor middernacht plaatselijke tijd begon een passagier luidop een gebed te prevelen en werd dan plots zeer agressief. De man dreigde er onder meer mee om de deur van het vliegtuig te openen want dat zou "Gods wil" zijn. Hij wilde zichzelf en de andere passagiers de dood injagen.

Enkele stewards konden hem vrij snel overmeesteren en de agressieveling kreeg onmiddellijk handboeien om. Geboeid moest hij plaatsnemen op de eerste rij in economy class tussen enkele stewards in. De politie van Hongkong nam de man onmiddellijk na de landing mee voor verhoor. Een woordvoerder van Qantas bevestigde de feiten en prees de crew voor het uiterst professionele optreden. (kve)

It's the men's turn: Cebu Pacific FAs perform safety demo dance

It's the men's turn to dance.

Cebu Pacific Air invited the media on Friday to witness the in-flight Safety Demonstration Dance, where their flight attendants perform the air safety demo to the beat of dance tunes.

After receiving flak from women's groups and even competitor Philippine Airlines' union of flight attendants for their "sexist and gender-insensitive" gimmick that showed dancing female flight attendants, this time, Cebu Pacific featured male flight attendants. They performed the demonstration dance to the tune of "Safety Dance," a song by Australian band Men Without Hats.

The safety demo dance was done while Flight 5J 936, the 8:00 am flight from Manila to Davao, was at cruising altitude. Another safety demo dance was done during Flight 5J 964 that left 10:00 am from Davao to Manila. A GMA News crew was on board both flights.

The local carrier recently introduced the safety demo dance, featuring women flight attendants dancing to popular songs of Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. A video of the unique safety demo was uploaded on YouTube by one of the passengers and has gone viral since, getting more than 8 million views on YouTube as of this posting.

Not everyone was pleased, however. A statement by the Flight Attendants and Stewards Association of the Philippines (FASAP) said the group was "deeply perturbed" by the video, adding that the stereotyping of flight attendants as entertainers "will surely have a negative and sexist impact in the minds of the public, at the expense of the unwitting female-dancer-flight attendants."

Gabriela Women's Party described the dance as "exploitative" and not part of the flight attendants' job description.

For its part, Cebu Pacific said that the demo dance is done in the interest of providing "fun" safety information and that the flight attendants partake in the demonstrations whole-heartedly.

In an earlier interview with GMANews.TV, Cebu Pacific vice president for marketing and distribution Candice Iyog said the airline had hired professional choreographers to put together the dance, which is meant to be entertaining and informative at the same time.

"Cebu Pacific has always been known as a fun airline. We were looking for something new and different to show that flight safety does not have to be boring," she said.

Cebu Pacific made it clear that the safety dance has not replaced their standard safety demonstration conducted before takeoff.

The airline is known to have pioneered now-famous promos and gimmicks, including one-peso plane fares and in-flight games.

PAL adds two more airplanes despite union's strike threat

PHILIPPINE Airlines has added two extended-range Boeing 777-300s to its fleet, enabling it to promote senior cabin crew and to hire new people, the company said over the weekend.

Hundreds of aspiring cabin crew had been flocking to the carrier's recruitment offices since the new positions were declared open, vice president Jose Uybarreta said.

"PAL maintains a good and competitive track record when it comes to employee salaries and benefits," Uybarreta said

He said the accusations of low wages and gender discrimination by its cabin crew union had had no impact on the airline's prospective recruits.

Nobody would want to join the airline if it were abusing or discriminating against its cabin crew, yet it continued to accept 100 applications a day, or close to 20,000 applications over the last nine months. About half of those were for cabin crew positions, Uybarreta said.

An ongoing dispute between management and the Flight Attendants and Stewards Association of the Philippines was placed before the Labor Department for arbitration after the workers threatened to strike toward the end of October.

In the recent mediation talks, the union rejected a management offer of P105 million for increases in salaries and allowances, expanded maternity benefits, and an increase in the retirement age to 45 from 40 for both male and female cabin crew, but on the condition the airline would be able to field mixed crews of both old and new workers.

A junior flight attendant who asked not to be identified said she hoped the union would accept the mixed-crew proposal, which would allow younger crew members to serve on international flights alongside their senior counterparts.

"After all, we are all crew members dreaming of better opportunities and pay," she said. To reject mixed crews would be to discriminate against younger crew members, she said.

The union earlier said the retirement age of 45 was still "discriminatory" and should not carry any conditions. The economic package should be about P250 million so that the cabin crew's collective bargaining agreement would be at par with the ground crew's package.

As the government scrambled to prevent the labor dispute from disrupting Philippine Airlines' services, foreign carriers warned they would relocate if the Philippines continued to charge what they viewed as excessive taxes.

The Board of Airline Representatives, whose members include 30 air carriers that have international connections from the Philippines, said the common carrier tax and gross Philippine billings were a disincentive for airlines to fly through Manila.

Group vice chairman Steven Crowdey said the US carrier Delta Airlines had already reduced its seating capacity over the taxes, replacing a B747-400 with a Boeing 777, or a reduction of 125 seats per flight.

Last month, Dutch carrier KLM also threatened to pull out of the country because of the common carrier tax. International air carriers used to be covered by a 3-percent common carrier tax, but they are now also subject to a 12-percent value added tax.

"The Philippines is the only country that charges such taxes," Crowdey said.

"By contrast, neighboring countries' airports and agencies often offer incentives for carriers to fly into them."

Crowdey's group says the carriers that have stopped flying into Manila are British Airways, Air France, United Airlines, Alitalia, Swiss International, Aeroflot, Garuda Indonesia, Egypt Air and Pakistan International Airlines.

Northwest Airlines and Lufthansa had also reduced flights and downgraded operations, Crowdey said.

Knuffelen in het vliegtuig

AMSTERDAM -  Naast economy en business class, kunnen vliegreizigers binnenkort ook kiezen voor de 'cuddle class'. Bij het reizen in deze zogenoemde 'knuffel klasse' kun je drie stoelen uitklappen tot een soort bed.

Het idee, oorspronkelijk de Sky Couch genoemd, zal voor het eerst in de praktijk worden gebracht door New Zealand Air.

Op vluchten tussen Auckland en Los Angeles kunnen twee reizigers vanaf 1 november samen drie stoelen boeken in de economy class, waarbij de derde voor de helft van de prijs. Ideaal voor stelletjes of iedereen die voor een klein beetje extra lekker languit wil.

Het onderscheid tussen economy en business class zal hierdoor worden verkleind. De Sky Couch is enthousiast ontvangen in de vliegwereld en wordt al getipt pm dé nieuwe ontwikkeling in de sector te worden.
