- Coral Economy class 100% of actual miles flown;
- Pearl Business class 150% of actual miles flown;
- Diamond First class 200% of actual miles flown.

Cabin               Fare Class                           Earning Ratio
Coral Economy E, U, V, L, Q, M, K                   50%
               H, B, Y                                   100%

Pearl Business Class
                    W, D,                                    130%

Philippine Airlines to start flights to Bali this month

Philippine Daily Inquirer  Sunday, April 1st, 2012

MANILA, Philippines–Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) will start flights to Bali on April 28, reestablishing direct air links between Manila and Indonesia's prime holiday destination.

The flights to Bali will be the first new route to be added by the Lucio Tan-led airline.

"With the new service, passengers can look forward to experiencing full-service, hassle-free trip to Bali for their vacation," PAL president Jaime J. Bautista said.

PAL said it would use the Airbus A320 aircraft for the new route that would operate twice weekly, departing Manila every Wednesday and Saturday evening. Arrival at Denpasar International Airport–Bali's provincial capital–is at 1:25 a.m. the following day.

To mark the launch of the Bali flights, PAL is offering a promo fare of only $188 for every round-trip economy ticket. Business class tickets have also been slashed to $988.

The promo fares are exclusive of government taxes, fees and surcharges. The discounted tickets are on sale from April 1 to 30 and may be used from April 28 to Sept. 30.

Bali is PAL's second destination in Indonesia, following Jakarta, the country's capital, where the flag carrier flies five times a week direct from Manila and four times a week via Singapore.

Bali will be PAL's 26th destination in its international route network. PAL, the only local airline that offers business class seats, flies to 20 domestic stations using an all-jet fleet.

PAL earlier said it continued to lose money in the third quarter of its fiscal year as it struggled with disruptions in operations due to labor issues, exacerbated by the continued rise in fuel prices.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the company said total revenue dropped 3.8 percent year-on-year to $386 million in October to December–the third quarter of its current fiscal year ending March 31, 2012.

This led to a net loss of $33 million for the three-month period, a reversal from the $15.1 million profit the company posted a year earlier.

"PAL experienced weak passenger demand as well as declining cargo markets as the world economy struggled to recover," PAL said.

Cebu International Airport Expansion Set

Manila Bulletin April 1, 2012

MACTAN, Cebu — The Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) Board said the expansion for the existing arport facility is now being programmed after making a decision to expand, rather than transfer the airport to another location.

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) turned over last year its final report on the Feasibility Study for the New Passenger Terminal and Master Plan of the MCIA.

After its board meeting Friday last week, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia who sits in the board said "there is now a particular schedule in the procurement process for the building of this (new) terminal."

Garcia, however, did not divulge to media the exact schedule except that the construction of said new terminal will be on a Build-Operate-Transfer scheme under the government's public-private partnership (PPP) policy.

She asked the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) for a more compressed time schedule within which to implement the study.

The MCIA, when constructed in the 1990s, was designed to accommodate 4.5 million passengers; last year, the airport terminal has already hit some 6.2 million passengers.

For the first two months of this year alone, the MCIA accommodated 296,474 passengers, or 25 percent higher than the 237,946 passengers that arrived in the terminal for the same period in 2011.

Garcia said Cebu "is becoming more interesting and people like to come here as it gives a lot of opportunities for employment and businesses."

With this growth in passengers, Garcia said it is "a challenge" for the Cebu government to see to it that the infrastructure can keep up with this development. "We have an expansion in the existing terminal but we really need a new terminal that should be built not just to serve 6.2 million passengers but for 20 to 30 million in the next 20 years," Garcia said.

Cambodia will now be 3 hours away from Philippines

Philippine Daily Inquirer  April 3rd, 2012

PHNOM PENH–Beginning this month, Cambodia will be less than three hours away, thanks to direct flights that will be leaving Manila three times a week.

With Cebu Pacific airline offering direct flights from Manila to Siem Reap and back every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday starting April 19, expect an influx of more investors from both countries and the development of tourism, according to Philippine Ambassador to Cambodia Noe Wong.

The ambassador said the special air services agreement between the two nations was a result of discussions by the Joint Conference for Bilateral Cooperation held in December last year, the first in 10 years.

"We are trying to hasten..the signing of the existing memorandum of agreement on special air services...scheduled after the Asean summit before the end of April,'' Wong said in an interview with Radio-Television Malacañang.

"This is a big thing for Filipinos here and also for Cambodia (as) it will pave the way for Cambodia to really appreciate what the Philippines is..in terms of tourism and development,'' Wong said.  "(The air agreement) would also "hasten the influx of investors from both countries,'' he added.

Among the Philippine products being marketed in Cambodia are those of San Miguel Corp., Pure foods and United  Laboratories. Mega sardines are  also being sold here, Wong said.

According to the Cebu Pacific website, Cambodia-bound flights are scheduled to depart Manila at 7:50 p.m. every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, arriving at Siem Reap at 9:30 p.m. (Cambodia time is one hour behind.).  Return flights will leave Siem Reap at 10:30 p.m. on the same days, and arrive in Manila at 2:10 a.m. the following day.
